About the role
A Service Delivery Manager is responsible for ensuring that technology services are delivered efficiently, consistently and in line with business requirements. This Sydney-based opportunity is designed for an experienced technology operations professional who can lead technical teams, coordinate service activities, manage stakeholder expectations and improve service quality across an organisation.
The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day service delivery operations, ensuring that technical requests, incidents, escalations and planned activities are managed within agreed service levels. The role requires a balance of operational leadership, technical understanding, people management and continuous improvement.
Working closely with internal IT teams, project managers, business stakeholders and external service providers, the Service Delivery Manager will help maintain reliable technology services while supporting business growth and operational efficiency. The manager will establish clear processes, monitor service performance, allocate resources and ensure that teams have the information and support needed to complete their work effectively.
Depending on the organisation, responsibilities may cover IT support, infrastructure services, field technicians, end-user computing, network connectivity, cloud platforms and business-critical applications. The role is particularly suited to someone who can combine practical technical knowledge with a structured approach to service management and team leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Service Delivery Manager will supervise daily operational activities, allocate workloads and coordinate team schedules to ensure that service requests and technical tasks are completed accurately and on time. They will establish priorities based on business impact, urgency, available resources and agreed service commitments.
A major responsibility will be leading and supporting technical staff. The manager will communicate expectations, monitor workloads, review performance and provide coaching to improve productivity and service quality. They will encourage accountability, knowledge sharing and collaboration while helping team members resolve operational challenges.
The successful candidate will work with project managers and technology teams to coordinate service activities with project schedules and business priorities. This may include supporting technology deployments, coordinating infrastructure changes, preparing operational handovers and ensuring that new systems can be supported effectively after implementation.
Service performance management will be central to the role. The manager will monitor key performance indicators, review incident trends, assess service-level agreement compliance and identify recurring problems. They will prepare operational reports for relevant stakeholders and recommend corrective actions where service performance falls below expectations.
The position will also involve developing, maintaining and improving standard operating procedures. The manager will document workflows, escalation paths, service processes and operational responsibilities to promote consistency across the team. They will identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, improve scheduling, reduce avoidable incidents and streamline communication between technical teams and business users.
Technical oversight is another important element. Depending on the environment, the manager may coordinate the maintenance and troubleshooting of network infrastructure, structured cabling, access-control systems, intercoms, security cameras, user devices, servers or related technology. They will work with technical specialists to investigate complex issues, determine appropriate resolutions and minimise service interruptions.
The manager will also oversee incident escalation and problem resolution, ensuring that critical issues receive timely attention and that affected stakeholders receive accurate updates. Where necessary, they will coordinate with external vendors, service partners and internal specialists to restore normal operations and prevent recurring failures.
Risk management, compliance and service documentation will form part of the role. The manager will ensure that operational procedures follow applicable organisational policies, security requirements and industry standards. They will support service reviews, identify potential operational risks and recommend improvements to strengthen reliability and accountability.
