Sr. Accountant
About the role
The Senior Accountant plays an integral role in overseeing complex accounting processes, statutory compliance, and financial database reporting within a fast-paced commercial technology environment in Sydney. Operating at the intersection of accounting principles and corporate financial technology, this position ensures the complete accuracy, integrity, and regulatory alignment of multi-entity accounting functions. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant takes ownership of month-end procedures, general ledger maintenance, and financial database analytics that inform core executive strategy.
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end month-end close cycle, ensuring timely reconciliations and comprehensive variance reporting across operational divisions. Working closely with business intelligence analysts and systems teams, you will design automated financial reporting models, manage data extraction pipelines from ERP environments, and streamline internal accounting workflows. Your analytical insights will directly assist leadership in forecasting revenue streams, evaluating working capital, and maintaining robust fiscal governance.
Regulatory Compliance, Systems Management & Audit
A core focus of the Senior Accountant role involves upholding strict compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), corporate tax mandates, and international statutory frameworks. You will act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, compiling audit documentation, testing accounting controls, and ensuring complete compliance with tax reporting obligations (including GST, BAS, and FBT). Additionally, you will participate in maintaining database integrity within modern ERP frameworks such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
Beyond compliance, you will identify areas for digital automation within financial reporting pipelines. By applying business intelligence tools and SQL-driven reporting frameworks, you will reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets, optimize ledger reconciliations, and ensure real-time financial tracking across corporate entities. Mentoring junior financial accountants and leading continuous improvement projects across business units will also serve as key pillars of your responsibility.

Our client provides a modern, inclusive, and growth-oriented work environment based in Sydney CBD.
