Brisbane to Sydney Adventure
A 7-day south-bound coastal journey winding from Brisbane to Sydney, packed with ancient rainforests, local wine tasting, First Nations heritage, and native wildlife encounters.
About
raverse Australia's iconic East Coast in reverse, starting from Queensland's sunshine capital, Brisbane, and traveling southward through sub-tropical rainforests, coastal hinterlands, and famed wine country before arriving in historic Sydney. Covering roughly 1,000 kilometers over seven action-packed days, this immersive journey brings together ancient Gondwana rainforest canopy walks, traditional Indigenous storytelling, native Australian wildlife protection, and coastal ocean vistas.
Day 1: Welcome to Brisbane
Your adventure begins in Brisbane (Meanjin), the capital of Queensland. Gather at the central joining point hotel in the evening for an official welcome meeting with your trip leader and group, followed by a casual group dinner to discuss the upcoming coastal exploration.
Day 2: Brisbane to Byron Bay via Springbrook National Park
Leave Brisbane early and journey south toward the Gold Coast Hinterland. Stop at Springbrook National Park for the Natural Bridge walk, where a cascading waterfall plunges through a natural basalt cave structure. Afterward, cross the border into New South Wales and head to Australia's legendary surf haven, Byron Bay. Take a scenic walk up to the Cape Byron Lighthouse, perched on Australiaβs easternmost point, to admire ocean panoramas and spot sea life.
Day 3: Byron Bay to Red Rock & Moonee Beach
Start the day with a visit to "The Farm" in Byron Bay, an inspiring local hub showcasing sustainable agriculture, organic dining, and circular farming practices. Continue down the Coffs Coast to the coastal town of Red Rock. Here, join local Gumbaynggirr guides for a First Nations waterways experience to gain deep insights into traditional marine life, ancient cultural practices, and local indigenous language. Spend the evening relaxing near Moonee Beach.
Day 4: Dorrigo National Park to Port Macquarie
Head inland to explore the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Dorrigo National Park. Stroll out along the famous Skywalk lookout at the Rainforest Centre for an elevated view over the ancient forest canopy. In the afternoon, travel to Port Macquarie for a guided tour of the renowned Koala Hospital, learning firsthand how passionate volunteers rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick and injured native koalas.
Day 5: Port Macquarie to Hunter Valley via Crowdy Bay
Journey down the coast to Crowdy Bay National Park. Challenge yourself to the 4.3 km Diamond Head Loop Hike, which weaves through coastal paperbark forests, heathland, and dramatic rock formations with chances to see wild Eastern Grey kangaroos lounging along the beach. Continue into the historic Hunter Valley, Australiaβs oldest commercial wine region, to enjoy an afternoon vineyard tour and wine tasting session.
Day 6 & 7: Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park & Sydney Harbour
On the final leg of the journey, head south toward Sydney, stopping at Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park to soak in sweeping water views from West Head Lookout. Arrive in Sydney for a guided historical walking tour through The Rocks, taking in iconic sights of Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge while hearing stories of local First Nations history and early settlement before the trip concludes in the late afternoon.
