Located in the bustling heart of the Canberra CBD on City Walk, our store is the region's premier independent specialty retailer for high-quality teddy bears, plush animals, and unique collectables. Whether you are searching for a newborn’s very first companion, a rare limited-edition collector’s piece, or a comforting gift for a loved one, stepping into our world guarantees you will find a special friend meant just for you.
What Makes The Teddy Bear Shop Special
What truly sets The Teddy Bear Shop apart is our unwavering passion for quality, heritage, and personal connection. In an era dominated by mass-produced plastic toys and generic retail chains, we remain a cherished sanctuary dedicated entirely to soft, cuddly companions. We guarantee there is a bear for everyone—from classic mohair heirloom bears with official certificates of authenticity to modern, ultra-soft plush animals created for active play.
Beyond our extensive retail selection, we are renowned for our signature Medibear Service. Understanding how deeply attached children and adults can become to their favorite plush friends, our dedicated team offers in-house care and minor repair services for pre-loved bears in need of extra attention. Our warm, knowledgeable staff treat every customer like family, taking the time to help you select the perfect bear for every occasion, milestone, or celebration.

Background and History
The Teddy Bear Shop has been a staple of Canberra's retail history since the 1980s. Originally operating within the landmark Canberra Centre, the shop became a renowned destination where generations of local families made memories together. When the store faced potential closure in 2012, long-time local supporters Meg and Ian step in to save the iconic institution, converting it into a true family-operated business alongside their son Chris and a dedicated, passionate staff. Relocating to a bright, spacious retail location at 222 City Walk, The Teddy Bear Shop continues to thrive today as Canberra's only specialty teddy bear and soft toy destination, carrying forward its long-standing promise: For every bear that ever there was.
